At Snowdonia Hub, we use a small number of external security cameras to help protect our guests, visitors, vehicles and property and to support the safe operation of the site.
Where cameras are used
We currently operate five external security cameras covering areas including the driveway, car parking area, entrances and parts of the external grounds.
Cameras are positioned for security and safety purposes and are not directed towards bedrooms, bathrooms or other areas where guests would reasonably expect a high degree of privacy.
What is recorded
Our cameras are motion activated rather than continuously recording.
When activated, cameras may record video images and audio. Doorbell cameras also allow two way communication when required.
Why we use CCTV
We use security cameras to:
• help protect guests and visitors
• protect vehicles, buildings and other property
• deter and assist with investigating theft, damage or unauthorised access
• support guest and visitor safety
• help us identify and assist arrivals where appropriate
Our lawful basis for processing personal data through CCTV is our legitimate interests in maintaining the safety and security of our guests, visitors and property.
Storage and access
Recordings are stored locally using our Eufy HomeBase system.
Access is restricted to the owners of Snowdonia Hub, Chris and Julie.
Recordings are not routinely monitored or shared and older recordings are automatically overwritten as storage capacity is reached.
Sharing CCTV recordings
We do not routinely share CCTV footage with third parties.
Where reasonably necessary, relevant recordings may be disclosed to organisations such as the police, insurers or other appropriate authorities in connection with a security, safety or legal incident.
We will not disclose recordings to other guests, visitors or members of the public unless there is an appropriate lawful basis for doing so.
That last point is worth having because PASC specifically warns that inappropriate disclosure of CCTV to guests, neighbours or members of the public can constitute a data breach.
Your rights
Images or audio recordings in which an individual can be identified may constitute personal data.
You may have rights under UK data protection law in relation to personal data we hold about you, including the right to request access to it in appropriate circumstances.

Keeping our CCTV use under review
We review our use of security cameras at least annually and when cameras are added, removed, repositioned or the system materially changes.
