Snowdonia Hub Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Our commitment

Snowdonia Hub is committed to treating people fairly, respectfully and with dignity. We aim to provide an inclusive environment for everyone working with us. The business is run by Chris and Julie, with no employees at present. We engage independent contractors when needed. This policy covers our recruitment and working practices, including the selection and engagement of contractors and any future employment of staff.

Fair recruitment and working practices

We will select people based on the skills, experience and abilities relevant to the work. We will use clear requirements and avoid unnecessary conditions that could unfairly exclude someone. We will not unlawfully discriminate because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

We will:

  • Apply fair and consistent criteria when recruiting, engaging contractors and allocating work.
  • Make reasonable adjustments where required so disabled people can apply for and carry out work.
  • Treat people fairly in decisions about pay, terms, training, development and ending working arrangements.
  • Consider individual needs and requests for flexibility fairly.
  • Recognise the rights that apply to each working relationship, rather than relying solely on whether someone is described as an employee or contractor.

Respectful behaviour

Discrimination, bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and victimisation are unacceptable. We expect everyone working with Snowdonia Hub to treat colleagues, contractors, guests and suppliers respectfully. We will take reasonable steps to prevent inappropriate behaviour and address concerns brought to our attention.

Raising a concern

Anyone who experiences or witnesses unfair treatment can raise it with Chris or Julie. If the concern involves one of us, it should be raised with the other. Where neither can consider it impartially, we will seek suitable independent assistance. We will listen, consider concerns promptly and fairly, and handle information sensitively, sharing it only where necessary to investigate or respond. Nobody will be disadvantaged for raising a concern honestly or supporting someone else’s complaint. Where a concern is upheld, we will take appropriate action and consider how to prevent it happening again.

Putting the policy into practice

Chris and Julie share responsibility for this policy. We will share it with regular contractors and explain the expectations relevant to their work. Any future employees will receive it as part of their induction. We will review the policy annually and sooner if changes to our business or a concern show that improvements are needed.
